script creation process

 so for the creation of my script, i started by writing it down in a notebook, just to know everything im going to say and get a general idea of what its like.

SCRIPT REASERCH

 So first i need to learn to write a script in documentary format.

finding inspiration

 i began to watch afew documentaries like the alpina bmw documentary, and one i particularly liked was the enzo ferrari one.

i really liked this one due to the use of images and videos with the narration. it was generally a simple idea but excellently executed

finding out what documentaries are like

 so ive watched afew documentaries to get the general feel of what theyre like and the structure behind them.

the general structure is mostly narration whith pictures and videos being placed in the backgrond, that correlate with what is being narrated.

new intentions

 so for my documentary, i intend to showcase the kenyan car scene, showing the kinds of cars we have and the impacts they have had on our scene. i do this by looking into the owners and their cars aswell. for this project, i have decided to focus on charles and his cars and what they mean to him.

change of plans

After further evaluation, i have decided to change my work from a short film to a documentary about the two cars and their impact on the kenyan car scene.

i decided to do this due to the previous short film lacking a clear story line, and with the way it was filmed, would eliminate the need to reshoot everything and simply turn it into a documentary.

just when i thought i was almost done:(

this is my postcard after debating on many this is the one i have finally settled on

for the laurels i put 3 of them together in a simple manner and as for the title, i made sure it was bold in a font that gave of a race car vibe.

as for the background picture, i made sure that it wasnt taking away too much from the text while still showing off the cars

POSTCARD CREATION

 

for the creation of my postcard, i used laurel designer pro for the laurels and photoshop for the rest.

i cant seen to be able to decide a good format for my postcard cause there is alot of empty space around it. so i am struggling to find something to fill the space. 

as for the font, i went with the designer font as it gives a racecar vibe to it that i got from "da font"

this page is essentially just to spread awareness of the film and promote it further

EDITING

 for the editing, i used both premiere pro and capcut.

Starting off the editing, i used premiere pro to put the clips together, then later exported it to capcut to add the transitions and overlay the sound.

for the sound of the cars speeding by, it was recorded separately in a more controlled environment to minimize wind noise. i then extracted the sound and added it to the video.

FILMING STRUGGLES

During filming, bringing aspects from the script was not possible as firstly, i intended to film at night but i couldnt due to permission issues. also due to traffic, getting rollers of the cars was made harder as people wanted to pass or we were going too slow as we were blocking both lanes.

Another struggle we went through was having people trying to race when they see the speed, which deviated us from recording.

FILMING

 

as you can see we filmed on the express way 

this is where most of our car scenes could be filmed due to the speeds we had to achieve during filming
